As an individual deeply committed to leading an environmentally conscious lifestyle, it was essential to Kate Miller that her company’s ethos reflect her personal ethics. elworthy studio is dedicated to offering high-quality products that minimize environmental waste. Each wallpaper and fabric design is manufactured using eco-friendly raw materials and processes. By utilizing an on-demand printing process, elworthy studios eliminates any potential waste as each fabric and wallpaper is made to order.
Kate partners with suppliers who share her commitment to social and environmental responsibility and selects American businesses to support the domestic economy.
Wallpaper and Grasscloth
Each of elworthy studio’s wallpapers are made and digitally printed in the USA using non-toxic water-based inks which deliver outstanding image quality, consistency, and durability. The inks are odorless and meet the following standards:
- UL ECOLOGO certified for reduced environmental impact
- UL GREENGUARD GOLD certified for low chemical emissions
- Prints meet AgBB criteria for low VOC emissions
The wallpaper is FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certified, ensuring responsible use of forest resources by a third party, and sourced from within 150 miles of our suppliers studio. It is coated with a water-based, Titanium Dioxide clay for superior opacity and strippability. Our paper has a traditional paper-hand feel, smooth print surface, and matte finish which minimizes glare. It is suitable for residential and low-traffic commercial locations, and is Class A Fire-rated based on ATSM-E84 standard testing for smoke generation and flame spread.
Our grasscloth wall coverings are hand-woven by skilled weavers using the natural fibers of the agave plant, which are sustainable and renewableThese fibers are sun dried for low energy production, colored with water-based vegetable dyes, hand when, then backed with chemical-free paper. The entire process is eco-friendly and the end product is completely biodegradable. The grasscloth has a beautiful, lustrous sheen with a subtle reflective quality and a smooth, tightly woven texture.
Printed textiles
elworthy studio’s Decay Collection designs are printed on a fabric that is 56% linen and 44% cotton. This fabric is sourced from a supplier in Belgium who is an industry leader in ecology and sustainable development.
All elworthy studio textiles are printed in the USA with minimal environmental impact. The textile designs are created with low VOC, water-based pigment ink that has been selected for its eco-friendly characteristics. Our supplier’s on-demand printing services are created to minimize waste.
Solid textiles
elworthy studio’s solid linen collection features eco-friendly fabric that is made from European flax, and spun and woven to meet high environmental specifications. The linens are dyed and finished in the USA.
elworthy studio’s velvet collection is comprised of 100% cotton velvet and made in the USA.
