Behind the Design: Emily June Designs’ Modern maximalist living room
Here at Elworthy Studio, we find it hard to contain our excitement over eclectic interiors. The artful mix and match of unexpected layers easily makes us swoon! Swept away by Emily June Designs’ recent living room reveal, there isn’t an element that doesn’t catch our eye (though we may be partial to the sofa 😉). Eager for more insight into this fearless design, we reached out to the Emily June Designs team to learn what led to selecting Lucina fabric and unleashing this wildly fabulous living space!
Elworthy Studio: What was your vision for this living space?
Emily June Designs: The driving vision for the space was to accent and complement the beautiful antique rug my client inherited while keeping true to the use of color and pattern that my firm is known for. Covering the sectional in the Lucina pattern in Petrol beautifully contrasts with the richness of the rug without being overwhelming.
Elworthy Studio: What drew you/your client to our Lucina fabric in Petrol for this project?
Emily June Designs: The pattern itself brings a sense of movement to the large-scale sectional, while the tone-on-tone color inspires a sense of calm; together, the effect is simultaneously relaxing and interesting to the eye.
Elworthy Studio: Was sustainability and using eco-friendly materials a factor in this project?
Emily June Designs: While sustainability and the use of eco-friendly materials isn't always the driver of fabric choice, we are proud to offer options to our clients that meet those needs. Whether it is using an antique, family heirloom rug or sourcing materials from eco-friendly businesses, it is always a pleasure to help do our part!
Elworthy Studio: What effect does this fabric have in the finished space?
Emily June Designs: Using the Lucina pattern on the sectional is akin to bringing another piece of art in the room yet the soothing Petrol colorway really grounds the space. Complementing a vibrant rug with an equally vibrant pattern is certainly maximalist, yet the juxtaposition works here because of the tone-on-tone palette!
Elworthy Studio: As fellow lovers of all things color, we are curious…what do you feel is your color 'soul mate'? Feel free to be as specific as you want!
Emily June Designs: Green forever! Whether it is bright and cheerful and evokes memories of summer days playing in the grass, or deep and moody bringing to mind a mossy pond, I love all shades of green!
Thank you so much to Emily June Spanos and her team for a behind-the-scenes look at how this exceptional space came into conception.
